Cupping

We offer cupping therapy as an adjunct to shiatsu. Cupping therapy is used in the traditional medicine of many cultures around the world, and is especially well-developed in the Chinese system. Glass cups are placed on bare skin to create suction, which gently pulls away muscle tension and blocked qi while improving circulation. Muscle knots melt away as the receiver enters a deeply relaxed, warm, energized state. Cupping can also be used to improve breathing, help a cold move through the system, and treat insomnia. Although cupping normally leaves a mark, the process does not hurt at all—it feels wonderful.

Sotai-Ho

Sotai-ho is a painless way to treat stiff, stuck muscles and open up the range of motion. With guidance from the practitioner, the client moves her muscles in the opposite direction from the motion that causes discomfort. The practitioner applies gentle resistance as the client moves in the easy direction—and voila!—the range of motion opens up and the sore muscle relaxes. It's like magic.
