After graduation from Wesleyan University in 2000, I spent a year volunteering full-time at St. Elizabeth Shelter in Santa Fe, NM. Working with the homeless population firsthand, I realized that all the warm beds and warm meals in the world could not restore the fundamental balance needed to live a harmonious life. This reinforced my dream to study shiatsu. During this time, I kept my own balance through often-trying situations with trips to an acupuncturist and mini-shiatsu sessions from a talented woman who treated clients for $1 a minute outside a boutique shop on Saturday mornings. In the spring of 2003, I at last enrolled in shiatsu school! I completed my program of study at the Charles River Institute (CRI) in Cambridge, MA, in the winter of 2005. CRI gave me a great foundation in technique, theory, and philosophy. I believe I've grown tremendously through my shiatsu studies, and now I'm ready and eager to share my expertise. I want to help you find harmony in body and soul. I'm happy to treat stiff shoulders and achy lower backs, but I'm especially interested (and good at!) working with the so-called internal disorders, including digestive, emotional, and sleep issues; and boosting immunity for those people who catch every bug that goes around. End-of-life is another area of special interest to me. I would be honored to ease the pain of those soon to make the great transition to death, or to aid anyone suffering from the loss of a loved one. But please feel no pressure to present a major symptom—shiatsu is relaxing and delightful for anyone! Give me a call today to discuss how I can help you feel better, restore your energy, and find greater health and contentment. I look forward to meeting you— Karen |
